I'm trying to find out if I can get Kenya maps for TomTom iPhone. When I go onto the following TomTom website -

https://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/shop/maps/#deviceSelected=Mobile%20Phone

and select my model as mobile phone, it gives me a list of Android phones with no mention of the iPhone. Why ?

When you go through 'Products' then 'Smartphone', the iPhone link goes to the App store. It looks like the only way to get their products is via that route.

What level of detail do these maps show? Most of the roads are dirt tracks which, if you're lucky, have been graded at some point.

Have you driven out there before?

I had already looked on the App Store. I guess they don't do any African maps other than South Africa

No, but I am only driving main highways from Nairobi to Nakuru and Nakuru to Kisumu. I don't need TomTom for navigation per se, but I do like the comfort of knowing I am definitely on the right road, and accurate ETAs etc.
I will use a combination of Google, Nokia and Apple Maps (!!) in offline mode. Although my experience of cell coverage is excellent out there, so I may even be able to run them online.

The cell coverage is brilliant - far better than Kent and East Sussex. You can get a perfect signal in the middle of the Serengeti!

I go out there often due to a charity I'm involved in. Driving out there is interesting to say the least.

Yes, when I was in the Masai Mara there was a mobile phone mast at the lodge I was staying at disguised as a tree

if you are not having much success via TomTom, pop along to www.openstreetmap.org and have a look at the level of mapping detail they have for the area you are interested in. If it's good enough, Google for an app to get Osm with navigation onto your iphone.
i.e. http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/IPhone
