Hi! We see you’re using an ad-blocker. We’re fine with that and won’t stop you visiting the site.
But as we’re losing ad-revenue from this then why not make a donation towards website running costs?. Or you could disable your ad-blocker for this site. We think you’ll find our adverts are not overbearing!

Because I shall soon be visiting the new Premier Inns in both the centre of Lincoln and Edinburgh park, I checked to see if they're on the map (ie the site for correcting/submitting POIs). Thanks to some un-named hero, they are indeed present.
But..... they're not appearing in the POI database (ie the one you download). So, a question: how often is the database re-compiled?
And it's another good opportunity to ask that, for all visitors to the site, to please, please, check the POIs in your area, or the ones you're familiar with, to make sure that they are correctly located and described. Businesses move or close down all the time, and it's only our collective efforts which will maintain the quality of this facility. I really don't ever want to find that TT 'local search' is better than our own POI database (er, but it did find the Edinburgh Park Premier Inn ) _________________ TT GO app on Android Phone

The date of the last change to every POI category is shown next to the name, when you select it for download. For Premier Inns it says "2013-08-28"
And AFAIK, the download you get, is wrangled from the master database "on the fly" so it should be entirely up to date.
So it sounds like something has gone wrong somewhere, either at your end (are you looking at an old file somehow?) or at the server end (MaFt should be along shortly....)
I'll just do a test download and see how it goes for me. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-)

Well I just downloaded the "Premier Inn" POI file and in it there was one entry for Lincoln @ Lat/Long 53.21098,-0.52423
Is that the one you are thinking of?
But there are three entries for Edinburgh at:
Edinburgh, Haymarket @ 55.94532,-3.21403
Edinburgh, Central, 82 Lauriston Pl. @ 55.94481,-3.19988
Edinburgh E @ 55.94664, -3.13663
...and none of those are right for the one you are looking for, at 1 Lochside Ct, EH12 9FX, right next to Edinburgh Park Railway Station (in the west of the city).
So it looks like there ISN'T a problem with either your download OR the servers, but the database just isn't up to date after all.
So I have to ask... are you sure you saw it on the submission map? 'Cos I couldn't, when I looked just now. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-)

And I've just submitted these 2 new Premier Inns for the POI list - which, yet again, underlines my earlier point about how it's up to all of us to keep these POIs up to date.
Which reminds me..... my local Staples has just moved, so it's off to work!
thanks again _________________ TT GO app on Android Phone

The Premier Inn's are now active so will be in the database download. I don't know how Richard normally handles move requests so I can't do anything with Staples!

Thanks MaFt: all that now needs to be done is to 'fix' that pesky sub-category limit when making TT .ov2 files, it' still causing me loads of grief. Please, if I ask nicely....? _________________ TT GO app on Android Phone

I've asked for info in the other forum post - we'll keep the discussion there, ok?
