Hi.
I visit the US quite often. I am wondering that if I purchased US SmartSt V2 out in the states will the mapping be compatible with my EU version of Smartst V2 purchased in the UK. Has anyone done so, as I would be interested in their comments?
Navman keep saying mid 2004, for its europe US mapping release. It’s coming to the later part of June & no sign of it.
You can pick up the software for about $120, against Navmans suggested price of £140. With today’s exchange rate it’s worth taking the plunge even if you have to pay duty on it on your return.

Ipaq 2210. Navman 4410. SmartSt V2.00.0036 SP2. 2.2G Microdrive

Even Navman Europe don't appear sure as to whether to US and EU maps use the same front end yet. Perhaps it's worth emailing Navman in New Zealand. In fact, I'll do that.

Hi Tim.
I will glad to here from you, with your reply from New Zealand. (If you get one). My next trip to the US will be at the end of July after my holidays. (Driving down to the Dordogne, via Le Mans, France) using the Navman for guidance.
CoPilot
Regards.

I will certainly post the reply here. I sent the question yesterday evening and got a reply asking me to clarify what I meant. I had asked if both sets of data (EU & US) used the same front-end but the person who replied didn't understand what I meant. Anyway, I've replied asking the question in plain English, but don't expect a reply until Monday morning now, as it is Saturday morning in New Zealand. So, watch this space.

In return, I expect a decent report on your French findings. Thumbs Up

And now that I have the USA V2 maps to go with my V2 EU ones, I can confirm that they use the same application software. I'm off to Florida a week on Friday, and will report my findings here on my return, when I get 'a round tuit'!

Tim, below is what I posted elsewhere on this forum yesterday, does your message above mean the answer to my question is yes?
Many thanks, John

Hi, new today!

I am visiting the U.S.A in about 6 weeks time where I understand the U.S. maps are cheaper......?
If I buy the U.S. maps there for my icn630 V2, will they work O.K.?

I thought there was some registration issue where you could not buy maps for the U.S.A in the U.S.A if your original hardware/software originated and was registered in the UK?

Navman were not helpful in there reply to this about 2 months ago.

I would appreciate any info from anyone.

Thank you

John
