I have just downloaded the speed zoned database onto my new garmin nuvi 3597 but having problems with the alerts.

I just get the garmin alerts when I tried it out, with the "bong audible" even disabling the the garmin alerts I cannot get the voice.

I dowloaded the database onto my micro sd card with the voice alerts and in my custom POI folder on the unit the PGPS poi's are listed.

Connecting to the computer i searched for the files on the micro SD card which list,

Memory card - click
Garmin - click
POI - click
poi.gpi 2.55MB

Anybody got any ideas what I am doing wrong

The first question someone will ask is which voice files did you download - WAV or MP3?

I have an advantage here though and have checked your downloads and see you have downloaded the MP3 version.

The 3597, like most newer models, don't have an MP3 player which means you cannot use the MP3 voice files.

You will need to download the WAV file version and make sure you have the 'sox.exe' file in the same folder as your POILoader exe file (usually installed in C:\Program Files\Garmin'POILoader on Windows - the file isn't needed on the Mac version). You can get the sox.exe from here: http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/downloads/sox.zip

Hope this helps?

Having got that working now consider one of the 2 utilities here to further customise the camera warnings.

Both a referred to in the sticky area of the Garmin area.
