screen coordinates all messed up

My Tom tom v4 "ONE (30 Series)" has started to play up. Seems to be doing this more often now.

Turn it on and only the far left of the screen acknowledges input. If I press right side of the screen, the device thinks I am pressing left side of screen.

Pressing DONE is impossible. Pressing YES for connect to computer is also impossible.

This doesn't happen all the time and when it does happen, If I leave the device switched on for a period of time it then starts working fine. Almost as if this is a heat related issue.

Is my device destined for the spares bin or can it be corrected via software? It's out of warranty and has had very little usage. Is this a common TomTom issue?

Try running the sharp corner of a business card slowly around the entire perimeter of the bezel to see if any gunge got built up under the frame and is causing the undo pressure on the screen.
