Few of you won't be aware that Chris Huhne has changed his plea to guilty. He now admits he was behind the wheel of his car when it was snapped by a speed camera on the M11 in North East London in 2003.

Huhne, who had a history of speeding convictions, was in danger of losing his licence as he had already accrued 9 points and so he persuaded his wife to say that she was driving.

He now faces a conviction for perverting the course of justice and almost certainly a prison sentence. Granting him unconditional bail until the sentencing hearing, Mr Justice Sweeney said: "you should have no illusions whatsoever as to the sort of sentence that you are likely to receive."

For PocketGPSWorld Speed Camera subscribers, the camera in question was the notorious Gatso 4785@50. And, had Chris Huhne been using our database back in March 2003 he would have been warned as it was first added to our database shortly after we launched the service in 2002.

...and for any nerds who have ancient copies of our database kicking around it used to be known as GATSO:1137 but all the camera ID's changed in 2006 Smile

I don't get it -- you can see this camera a mile away.

Picture suggests he's in the wrong lane too Smile

In the court evidence against his former wife, it was said that she didn't simply accept his points - the first she knew about it was when she got the ticket which said the registered keeper (Chris Huhne) had notified that she was the driver at the time and he coerced her into going along with that.

It was the first one I recognised as being a 'ash cow. Its a 50 mph limit on a road that was built for 70 mph & cars have improved vastly since. In the morning rush hour no one is likely to get near that & 3 a.m. it is ludicrous. Also when triggered it fires in the faces of oncoming drivers, which I discovered late one night on the day a bomb had gone off (I can't remember now, it might have been Docklands) & my heart rate didn't drop for about 5 minutes. If I'd had a heart attack no one would have known the reason why.

After 10 years saying he was innocent for speeding and finally admitting he was guilty sounds link Lance Armstrong
IMO hang him out to dry for as long as and as much as the system allows as well as the wife for agreeing to it.
There is too much corruption illegality going on we do not need more it if, make examples of them.
Might take the car(s) away as well. Sell them at auction and monies received to help offset cost for this ludicrously.

I believe this was the camera I reported to get lifetime membership. The database had a northbound and southbound camera at this site, but the northbound one was only there fleetingly (if at all, I can't remember TBH).

I do recall this being one of the highest grossing cameras in the country in the early days of speed cameras.
