At the moment we are going through thinking about changing our mobile phones..
The only problem is that our phones at the moment are linked to our Tom-Tom live -- 750 & 740..
They give us total hands free phone and also speak the text messages as they come in. and we have gotten used to it and want to carry on with the same level of service.

Our phones at the moment are quite old -- being the Sony Ericsson K750i and the Sony Ericsson W595 both of which are full compatible with our Tom-Toms.

We have looked on the Tom-Tom site for other compatible phones -- but they seem to be sadly lacking -- especially now that Sony Ericsson has left the phone market. -- Most of the list seems to consist of SE phones..

Can any one assist..
Don't want anything dramatic or "posh" just something that can get calls and texts. -- not the all singing and all dancing things that appear to be what everyone wants -- except us. But if need be we will..

Any ideas..
Yes we have looked at the Tom-Tom list..

Maurice

I had an SE W595 too, I bought it especially because it was one of the most compatible phones with TomToms.

Unfortunately it didn't like being put through the washing machine soon after!

That's no help to you, but I would be interested to know what smartphones work well with TTs too, as I'm in the market for one!

Agree SE W595 fully compatable, still use it as my back up phone.
Now use HTC Desire S which is compatable except for text messaging.
Brother has Galaxy S2 but have yet to test if that is compatable or not.

Galaxy S3 pairs perfectly with TT units BUT has big failings when attempting to sync the contact list via bluetooth (as it does also with any/most hands free kits).

Has anyone come up with any othe phone which is fully compatible with TomTom Live services,
I think that TomTom should update there phones listings, as many of the phones on the list at the moment are well out of date and nolonger available. It is a selling point of the Live services that theyare fully ccompatible with mobile phones for your telephone and text services.
Who should one contact at TomTom HQ to find out.Does this fourum have a "direct line" to the powers? ?
Any further help about a new phone that works with our TomTom's would be gratefully received

Maurice

Some of us do have some contacts at TT, but to say it's a 'direct line to the powers that be' would be a huge overstatement of what can be achieved. We do get to feed back some bugs and can offer opinions or suggestions, but what they do with those suggestions is completely unknown!

It's probably just as effective to email their MD or CEO direct!

SmartPhones tend to be all the rage at the moment and if you eMail TTsupport they shall possibly give you a combination of the old list with some new SmartPhones thrown in. If you do not want a SmartPhone research the phones that are in the category that you would like, select a few and ask TT if they are compatible and, if not, what similar phones they would recommend.

Nokia 6230i works perfectly.

You can find them at your local archeological dig (or you used to be able to three years ago!). I still have one as an emergency backup phone, but no longer linked to TTs as they jiggered the performance once they moved on to "improved" models after the x00 range!!

My Galaxy S3 doesn't have that problem.

I had a W595 that worked great with my 750 live device. Last year I upgraded to a Galaxy S2 this pairs fine and you can send and receive calls, but it cannot detect or read texts from the phone.

Another slightly annoying problem is that every time there is an Android Software update, you have to redo the Bluetooth pairing.

I don't know about you guys but my device does quite often lock up when making or receiving calls. Has done since new, even had them swap the device out at one point, and I am using the latest firmware / software.

Overall despite the issues above I find the 750's phone features very useful and still useful with my S2

regards

I,ve always had Sony foneslike the k750i, vivaz and they have read txt and sync with TT730 to get weather etc.
Got TT825 and Sony bravia S(dogs) it pairs ok but doesn't read txt and using with TT730 wont sync weather or txt.

So looks like laster fones tend to give the options they want.

Got a "new" Sony Ericsson W595 [ the same as the wife has] and has paired up smashing.
Got it off E-bay and didn't have a mark on it and came with the box and all the trimmings etc.

The problem is that it is PINK -- but there you go it works well

That's good to hear, gazza70. I'm surprised, but impressed. Smile
