Just tried mine K. Downloaded and processed OK.
Would have been good if Mark had told 'us' exactly what he was doing in the prog when the error came up though

That error seems quite well covered with numerous answers.

Check 1

Can you check what version of .NET you are running. All installed versions will appear in the list when you go to 'uninstall a program'. You've probably got versions listed right back to .NET 3.5

The program needs .NET 4.7 and Win7 only installs up to .NET 4.5 by default afaik

However, the program install should have prompted a download of .NET 4.7

I did Smile I ran the app after installation and thats the error.

So, Download and unzip to c:\csv converter
run Setup.exe as Admin
Run the new app that has the very black and white icon (as opposed to the 2015 version that has a red border)
App loads and presents that error.
Ack the error, and the App closes

OK thanks.

At the moment I'm stumped but I'll check the program, first thing in the morning, and put in some checks.

I don't understand the bit that you have said above. Are you running W7 on a bog standard PC? If VM means Virtual Machine, I wonder if this is the problem.
Presumably version 2015.12.07.23 ran OK on the same setup?

I have spoken on the phone to Kremmen about this, and at the moment he is a bit stumped.
So you didn't actually get to the stage of a fully open program as error comes as the program opens?

The bottom line seems to be that your PC may be using an outdated Transport Layer Security call. It should be using TLS 1.1 or 1.2 or you get that error.

Coming here via a browser uses different settings so 1.2 may be forced.

It's not easy but this page seems to indicate you can check what TLS level you are transmitting :

https://basics.net/2018/08/10/windows-the-request-was-aborted-could-not-create-ssl-tls-secure-channel/comment-page-1/

I'll try these commands in the morning and see what I get.

Try this as well: http://sunlync.com/kb/index.php?View=entry&EntryID=623

There does seem to be a call I can put in to force TLS 1.2 but that will be a later fix as no one else seems to have this issue.

Yes, Virtual system running on VMware Esxi Server. I have not yet found an app that doesnt work on Esxi.

And yes, open app, main window opens, error then appears. Close error and main window shuts down.

So at no time can I do anything in the app.

the v2015 still works perfectly

The older 2015 version doesn't perform the database check on launch so that error won't manifest itself.

I can easily work round it for you but it seems a shame to miss out on a warning that your database is out of date.

Trying that second link to see what version(s) of TLS you are allowing will be useful.

I always manually download anyway so that I rename all of the csv files to just gatso_30.csv etc

Running the PS command it says ssl3, Tls. There was a windows 7 update that forces 1.1 and 1.2 as default (kb3140245) I downloaded that from the catalogue and at install time it confirms its already installed.

changing the reg via link 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework\v4.0.30319

SchUseStrongCrypto = 1 (Type = DWord)
created the dword, nothing, swapped back to 0 and deleted the entry again with no changes after a reboot on each change

hi all, found this and it fixed the issue

https://manage.accuwebhosting.com/knowledgebase/3008/How-do-I-enable-TLS-12-on-Windows-7.html

thanks for your time and a great app Smile

Anyone else with this issue, copy the text below into a file and save it as somename.reg then double click to enter it into your system registry, then reboot.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols\TLS 1.2\Client]
"disabledbydefault"=dword:00000000

Ah, so it was TLS 1.2 being denied. Good find Smile

Good find on the TLS problem Mark.

May I ask why you do that? The CSV-GPX converter renames them to gatso_fifty.csv etc, so that they match the voice and icon files gatso_fifty.wav and gatso_fifty.bmp.
Unless these three files have the same filename (minus extension), the alerts/icons will not work properly on a Garmin for which the program was really designed.
