Google's indoor mapping already includes a number of airports, museums and shopping malls in the US, UK, Switzerland, Canada and Japan.

Now they are expanding their indoor mapping with the addition of a number of locations in France. Charles de Gaulle and orly airports, some museums, shopping centres and supermarkets including Carrefour and E.Leclerc.

The floorplans will appear in Google Maps on your Android phone so now you can hunt down the wine, beer and cheese aisles in double quick time.

"Indoor" use of a TomTom - been through the Madrid M30 inner ring road tunnel twice in the past week, and have an "integrated" TomTom in my Toyota. In the past, as expected, have lost signals on entering. This week it has kept track and giving correct directions, speeds, and exit messages throughout the 12km length. They appear to have added a navigation signal to the existing radio and mobile phone signals. The TomTom works either as a handheld or connected to dashboard, so it is not relying on motion sensors in the car. Can't find any mention of it in news. (Why do you need a GPS in a tunnel - because this has many entrances and exits, plus alternative routes. OK if you have used previously, but will help strangers passing through)
