I've always found the "new posts" notifications very unreliable here.

Sometimes they work, but sometimes when I arrive at the site there are plenty of new posts but none are showing as new.

And sometimes when they are working when I first arrive, they ALL disappear after I've visited ONE new post.

I'm afraid no-one on the team has ever been able to explain it or offer a solution so far.

That's why I requested a 'Yesterday's posts' option or even an easy way of producing the same result. Something that goes on the 'latest post time flag.

I think that the New Posts link usually works (but how would I know if I had missed new posts Question Laughing ), as long as that's the 1st thing I do when I open the site. I have found that opening a link and then going back to the Index doesn't always work (I think it may depend how long you spend on that thread before going back), so I habitually open the items on the New Posts Index in new tabs. That way I can work through the Index & then refresh it.

the 'last visited' date is stored in the forum database (as opposed to cookies).

the way i use the 'new posts' is to load that up then open each new post in a new tab. that way the initial tab/page/window with the new posts list is never navigated away from.

Strange! Last week I had problems showing "new posts" over a period of two or three days. Clicking on "new posts" resulted in no posts being shown (even though I was getting notifications when threads that I was watching were being replied to.

I deleted all of the PocketGPSWorld cookies and that fixed the problem.

Regards,

Been ok for me over the past couple of days but tonite some show, some do not, I always do a sweep via AVG PC Tuneup before using internet and logged out tonight and removed cookies specifically from internet explorer but did not make any difference, for me it would seem to be recurring problem for a couple of days and from the limited comments it would seem it may be happening to all users at the same time, so perhaps a buggy site problem.
