So do you think it's a case of 'you get what you pay for'?
I believe that there is an element of truth in that.
I'll admit that I am no expert when it comes to the pros and cons of the different systems available. I use Navigon Europe, had it when on offer last year, about £50 or £47 I think from memory. I had had a couple of map updates and they have been free, not sure if that's because it was within a 12 month offer or something.
First time I've used Navigon (TT before that), but I like it, looks and feels good, does what it says.
Never used Live services so can't comment on them, from posts by other people the Live service seems to be patchy or not very good, so I rely on the radio for traffic updates.
Have used Waze, but not regularly enough to pass judgment. _________________ Triumph Tbird 1700. And now a Bonnie T100.
Also, I'm not interested when one of the latest updates is about sharing your location on Facebook! FFS!!! Apparently the integration of this feature is very prominent!
Cancel the hysterics. Just switch the feature OFF and there's nothing to worry about!!!
If it was not for one, well two, things, I'd agree. The first thing is that adding new (and largely useless) features instead of fixing problems with existing features is endemic, and all these new features, even turned off, lead to bloat.

There are a number of annoying glitches, it freezes up & the routing is not particularly good. Thanks for that. It makes me a little happier with Sygic which does seem to have improved with the latest update. Still to really test it out in anger though.
So while it would be great to see TomTom come to the game in the Android Market for those who want it, I don't agree it's too late - people what new maps, new features, more reliable routing, etc. and if it is priced right, we buy multiple apps
TT are too late. They may find it hard to sell their overpriced map upgrades on a Android platform while people can use Google maps for free.
The last time I was tempted by an reasonably priced map upgrade from TT I went to their web site to be informed that as a registered user I could only get the special offer if I first purchased all the intermediate map upgrades that I had "missed".This resulted in a price almost equivalent to what I paid for the higher end TT unit in the first place. Will I go back and purchase anything again from TT? Probably not.
While the TT interface is better than the free navigation aids I have tried on my phone what is available for free meets the majority of my needs.
As for extra features, TT needs to go back to its roots and allow third party extras on all of its platforms. I once had TT live on my TT unit and often found it more than annoyance than a help, especially when it brought up an information screen with buttons to press whilst navigating a multi-output junction and map would have been helpful.

I agree that TT has long since lost the plot generally and specifically with Android
I changed over from TT to Sygic 3 years ago, when it was MM9. Since then I have downloaded 4 major updates to the software and several more minor ones. In addition I am able to download the latest maps and I am running the same software on both my Android phone and tablet (in fact I can run it on up to 5 different devices). And I have not paid a penny more for all of this in the last 3 years.
And when I have had problems they are sorted out quickly by staff who know and understand the product they are supporting.
Why on earth would I want to change back to TT? _________________ Peter
