Hi Just upgraded my iphone 4 to a HTC One X and I am looking to purchase a sat nav app to replace the Tom Tom app on my iphone. I want to be able to import the camera database into the sat nav software like I did with the tom tom app on my iphone and want to know which is the best android app to do this with. Don't want to buy an android app to find it is not compatable as they are not cheap.

Any recommendations and instructions how to install would be gratefull

At the moment Sygic, Telmap and MapQuest (& maybe others) have got free trials/downloads or beta tests on their android apps.

I am using all three at the moment (and getting very confused) along with OsmAnd, all have good & weak points but it really boils down to what suits your needs the best.

EDIT - Sorry, I've just re-read your post and realised that I have got it completely wrong because I'm not sure about the integration with PgpsW. Please ignore me.

I believe that the navigation software needs to be able to import 3rd party POIs for that to work.
I use Navigon and that can't do it, still like it as a nav system though.
CA runs in the back ground and 'pops up' with a warning for a camera, you don't get an actual camera icon on the map where the camera is.

Thats why I want to be able to intergrate them so I get the icon as well as the voice warning, its useful for when it warns of the mobile sites on bridges etc I can then look up, if i see a suspicuos vehicle I slow down otherwise keep going

You need to find an Android Nav app that will support third party POI files as well as allowing warning when aproaching the POI, whilst this is possible using TomTom on iPhone and used to be possible using Sygic on the iPhone platform I am not aware of any Nav apps for android that offer this option.

As has been said you can use CamerAlert running in the background for the audible alert - Mike

Sygic will do what you want. It can import the camera database and warn when near, complete with a countdown distance indicator. It is a bit fiddly to import because you have to convert to their own .rupi format but it works - once you are used to it you can do it in about 5 - 10 minutes. Sygic is cheaper than TT for iOS I suspect, although it has gone up a bit since I last looked!.

As with all POI based systems it is not directional, so you will get warnings for cameras on the opposite carriageway. What I do is run Sygic with CamerAlert in the background. I set Sygic to give visual warnings but without the sound. I then get a visual warning for all cameras, including a countdown distance, but audio warnings (from CamerAlert) only for those that are relevant to my direction of travel.

Maybe go for a cheap solution for a while, and hope that TomTom for Android appears before too long?
