Glad you got the TTG bag.

Don't give up hope; TTG gives me wierd advice and goes into a mood once in a while (like the missus) I do get more signal drops in bad weather.

Hopefully as TTG matures and you get map/software upgrades you're get better directions of A272. Weybridge and Byfleet(local to me) has rubbish mapping as well.

I've had my TTG for a week now, and I'm really pleased with it - particularly now I've added the speed camera database.
There are a couple of things that I would like to see added to make it even better:
Auto volume increase as speed increases. Some car radios have this feature, one being Blaupunkt, and work off an engine pulse. Should be fairly easy to integrate with the GPS speed read-out.
Possibility to switch off the display and hear voice instructions only - main benefit being increased battery life.
Finally, auto-standby if no movement detected after, say, 3 minutes. Again, a battery saving measure.

Any views?

Hi,

I have just bought my TTG, my first GPS device.
It all looked fine until I tried to install the 4.40 update.
I am not yure what happened, but nor TTG refuses to recognise my SD card. I cannot install anything on it either. I am totally lost.
Any idea what to do, except to return it as soon as possible.

According to the blurb, the Navman has a feature I really like the look of - "quickest/shortest routes, preference for motorways and urban roads now have percentage preference scale."

It sounds like a really useful idea that might just tip the scales - and they are about the same price. So, does the TTG do that??

No it does not I'm afraid. I wish it did. The TTG calculates the strangest routes at times - and ones you just ignore, because you know it's horlicks.

Thanks for your honest appraisals guys. I'm starting to waver on which one I go for, as the option of being able to adjust the preference on a sliding scale is exactly the sort of thing I want it to do.

I often have to go from Surrey to the Midlands areas and I'm sure the TTG will always want me to do what the RAC and AA routeplanners try - make me go to the M25 and up to the M1. I prefer to go cross country thru Oxford and just keep taking A roads that hop over the motorways or join them for a short while.

Now I'll have to monitor this forum AND the Navman one!

I've had the TTGo all of 2 days so will keep my comments brief for the time being, just to say that so far I am extremely impressed. I have done a fair bit of mileage around my locality just for the fun of it, and the TTGo has picked the exact route that I would have done every time, even using some very sneaky little roads that I was sure it would ignore. Very, very nice.

Voice directions plenty loud! Screen brightness and resolution spot on, and I've positioned it perfectly in the corner of the windscreen to the right of the steering wheel and there's no issue with reflections at all.

Have installed the update and the safety camera POIs effortlessly. All the cameras I've driven past have been 'detected', so people have certainly been quite busy. Excellent!!

Maybe will do a bigger review later.

When I drive my usual journey I like to be able to see the Time of Arrival and other info gained when selecting it as a route, but I don't necessarily want to here the voice instructions. However, I do want to be able to hear the speed cameras alerts.

Please add a facility to control these two things independantly.
