In the 'Forums' drop down, we have Index, New Posts, Your Posts and Unanswered posts etc. I always use the 'New Posts' option, but sometimes this 'lets me down' and comes up with an empty list. How about having a 'Today's Posts' option . C'mon MaFt, you know it makes sense |

I use the view posts since last visit on the forum index page and then once loaded bookmark the page so that I always start with the newest posts. If you had a todays posts button then you might miss something if you left at 10pm and did not log on again till lunchtime the next day |

I appreciate that a 'Today's Posts' might miss some, but probably not as many as New Posts does when it misfires by aparently thinking you have just visited. I suspect that the option that you suggest would possibly do the same. The idea of Today's Posts was to do away with whatever records your last visit time, and just does the filter by today's date. |

As in my job "today" can be defined in several ways. May I suggest that what is really meant here is "updated within the last 24 hours".
Another forum I visit calls this "Active topics".
I've had the empty list several times.

In my simple mind 'Today' is Saturday. It runs from 00:00 to 23:59 (to the nearest minuit). Having said that, threads updated during the last 24 hours is an even better idea than 'Today' (taking my definition of 'today').
Problem here is that MaFt doesn't seem to want to bite on this particular worm (the wiggly kind on a hook, that is) |

I tend to find that the Empty List is usually "self generated" e.g. if I've got a thread open and refresh it to see any new posts, then return to the New Posts list & refresh that - I've just visited, so no new posts!! Easily avoided, although no less annoying when you do it - "Oh no, not again"
However, the Empty List also occurs if you lose your Internet connection while the page is loading!
Edited to add:
Yes, I would find a "Last 24 hours" button very useful! _________________ Jock

MikeB answered an identical question a couple of years ago with the same answer so I guess it's not possible with this version of forum software - Mike |

My vote/request would have been "posts since [date inserted by me]". All too often these days since I became a modern person with iPhone and iPad both picking up emails on the hoof, I find myself going to look at a link, then closing down. Logs that as my last visit and I've missed all since last visit that I would have seen if I'd had time to look whilst on a quick break. _________________ Dennis

Damn, just done it again, checking whether there were any replies to this thread!
The search page suggests it should be possible by setting "Search for Keywords:"=* and "Search previous:"=1 Day, but, for me,this often returns an error if there have been too many posts. At the moment (10:52) the last post it shows is "Sun May 20, 2012 0:43 Guivre46 in TomTom High Speed Multi-Charger Reviewed" are there any more recent posts? _________________ Jock

That seems to work! The search results have been updated to include the post above!
Also, I've just searched over the last 6 months and the page hasn't returned an error! I wonder if there has been a coding change? _________________ Jock
