I'm thinking of getting an antenna for my Tom Tom one V4 4N00.005, (yup still got one sold the other with the MH) but it's never listed can anyone point me to the correct one, it's for the van, the unit is mounted high up so never really gets to see the sky, but the view point is much better due to no sun on the screen.
If I look on Ebay as there are a few used ones, which parts do I need for a permanent fixture.
Cheers Kev. |

Does your TomTom have a socket that looks like this:
The gold circle near the bottom of the picture is the socket that the remote gps antenna connects to. Newer models without the socket are not compatible with the antenna. _________________ Paul |

If the socket on the rear is the same as the picture posted earlier the one you need is with an MCX plug, the mMCX is about half the diameter of that used on the TomTom One - Mike |

Thanks Paul and Mike, I'll check out the back of the unit and measure the antenna socket.
Is mMCX a typo or does it mean MiniMCX.

Sorry Mike, I'm away for a few days, can't sleep so trying to catch up on my messages.
I'll check the unit when I get back.

I might have a suitable one for your device. The label on the unit is 4V00.013. It has a VERY small pin plug on it. I have looked on the TT shop website, but cannot find any antennas there now.
PM me if you are interested.
PS It is NOT the one compatible with Paul's picture, above. _________________ Gee-Pee

Hi GeePee,
Sorry for the delay, only got home last night.
I don't know what the correct part number would be so can't help there.
but here's a picture of my antenna socket I don't know how to put a pic in the post, I'm still no wiser as to which one I need, or am I just being a bit thick and missed it.
The whitish thing is in place of a windscreen mount, a Klett patch it never falls off once it's in place, Aldi/Lidl do them.

See HERE, Kev. The picture is a bit small, but you will probably see that this is a male plug with the top end of it recessed into a black plug all of which goes into the device socket.
You are still welcome to it IF you are confident that it is what you want, but I suspect not. Mike A might like to cast an opinion on it. _________________ Gee-Pee

Do you have a micrometer to check it's size? to see if it's anywhere near or measure your TT socket mine = 4.5mm.
You have a PM |

Don't have a micrometer, but length of metal part of plug is ca 11mm, diameter is ca 2mm, depth of metal part surrounded by black plastic is about 4mm.
Have responded to your PM. _________________ Gee-Pee

@K13ehr. The plug that GeePee has wil not fit! His is like an earphone plug which fairly obviously will not fit into your co-axial socket without considerable force which will break either the plug or the socket or both and won't work even if you achieve complete penetration. |

I'll forego the opportunity for smut, Graham I assume you'll have read the above, so thanks for the generous offer, shame it's of no use to me though.
I'm still no wiser as to which one I need to get then, 4.5mm plug wanted

The one that you want looks like a bit like a teensy-weensy TV arial plug of the old fasioned plug in type, not one of your new fangled screw on type.
Mikeader has made two posts above. Both of which tell you the type that you require But just in case you missed it, it's an MCX style plug.
Search eBay for 'gps antenna mcx' there are shedloads of them, mainly from china for less than a tenner. I've bought stuff from China before on eBay and had no problem, other than the expected extended delivery time (10 days or so) |
