Hi
New user to the website and advice welcome.
After years of using Becker 7914 and 7916 sat navs extensively on the continent without problems I have bought a Garmin 2340LMT to replace them.
I understand that the PGPSW French speed cameras can be downloaded to a micro SD card but am not sure what to do afterwards. Can the SD card be used independently i.e. without transferring the data to the device thereby enabling it to be removed rapidly in the event of a tug by authorities?
The instructions for the Garmin POI loader state to transfer the SD to the sat nav but a forum post seems to suggest that it is not necessary to do so in order to use the data on the SD card.
My intention at the moment is to put Europe speed cameras on one card and the U.K. on another and not use the Cyclops.
Thanks for any tips |

With my nuvi 255wt, I always load the PGPSW speed cameras to my SD card, not to the device itself. It works just fine.

If you have a microSD card reader or adapter then the quickest way to load the POI's is to attach the card to your PC and point POIloader to that. Then put the card in the nuvi. When you first switch on the nuvi it will ask if you want to load them to the device. It may also have a tick box for "Don't ask me again". If that option is not available then you get the nag with every switch on! See also my post about the 760 below. |

Thank you.
I did reply to Dale but it seems to have gone missing.
I intend to load the SD card via the PC.
If I load the card onto the sat nav what happens when I remove the card? Does the card data remain in the device or is it removed when the card is removed and needs to be re-loaded when the card is next inserted?
I intend to load the French data base but have the ability to remove it quickly by removing the SD card should the necessity arise!
I said I was a beginner at this stuff! |

That's it. Don't load the Poi camera data onto the device - click No at every switch on. That way, the data stays on the SD card, and the data is removed when the card is removed.
