I bought a used S70. It works fine once charged, but if i try to plug it in to the car cigarette port the map goes off and the screen shows the symbols for the computer/satnav connection.
I am using a universal charger that has not been a problem with my other navman S series. Any ideas.

New charger - as you are aware, it thinks it is being connected to a computer

Unless you use TMC I would use a USB lead plus Cigarette Port Charger with USB connector, that way you can power different devices and connectors, and is cheap to replace if one or the other goes wrong

Hi. Thank you for your reply. What is a TMC ?
The cigarette port charger i have is a USB connection.
It also occurs if i try to charge with my mains USB charger.
Are you saying i should plug an extension USB cable into my cigarette port charger or a multi port USB adaptor.

Thanks Bill

TMC is a type of traffic data system, so if you are in an area with poor or no reception most of the time, or don't need it, a USB lead is fine

You may be better off trying a mobile phone charger USB lead, rather than a usual data lead or sync lead, as these can sometimes trigger the computer connection symbol

Its all to do with how the lead is wired, and therefore what the unit thinks it is connected to
