There you go then, just don't use the app if you don't have a need for it!

No intention of doing, just expressing my opinion.

Anybody who needs an Aid to judge the distance of a vehicle in front of them shouldnt be on the road, they should be at specsavers.

Well, we could say the same about people who need satnav's instead of looking at road signs...

No comparison, the issue here is time, your sat nav gives you a reasonable ammount of time to adjust, slow down, indicate etc then make a left or right turn, the scenario we are talking about here involves split second decisions, and glancing or listening to something instead of concentrating on the vehicle in front is a dangerous situation to put yourself in - especially in dark wet weather at speed, at the end of the day common sense will always prevail, as mentioned previous - if you cant judge the correct distance yourself, then you shouldnt be on the road - fact.

So the advance warning from satnavs really should stop people going down river beds and the wrong way along one way streets? Laughing

It seems just a tad absurd that this subject gets so heavy. Maybe we should turn it into a poll to vote for who gets hanged, the pros or the cons. Rolling Eyes

Anyone who is 'thick' enough to follow a Satnav down a river bed shouldnt be on the road either, if someone was sat at the side of you giving you directions and told you to turn down a river bed, what would your answer be? I know what mine would be..... It all boils down to the same thing - common sense.

I think that if it was an app that didn't have a video screen it could be much safer. If it had a preselect option of 2 secs or 4secs (bad weather) and worked with just an audio alert when too close to the car in front, only then could it be called a safety device.

I'm sure that there are some drivers out there who would see it as a challenge between their Mates with a screen shot taken at 70mph and the smallest amount of distance between them and the car in front. I would have done 30 years ago!

What happens in Fog? We all know that many people already drive too close and too fast relying on the lights on the car ahead. With this app, some drivers are bound to feel secure traveling in convoy at 70 and with 1.5 secs between them when they can't even see each other. That's not safe is it?

In the right hands, this app could be an asset - just. Sadly, there are too many wrong hands that would love this app.

Edit - but it's true, it's all getting a little heavy. I've now taken a chill pill Razz

Actually, if this article is anything to go by, it's the riverbeds which are at fault, not the satnavs and not the drivers. I'll cut the rope and see you in court.
