Has anyone any idea on how to load POI as CSV onto a Nav72 Plus Live.
From the Fresh panel i can can create my own POI but is there away of converting the PGPSW POI into a CSV format.

Alll the POI files from this site can be selected to be in the CSV format prior to downloading, use the drop down list to select the CSV (Garmin) format which is on the POI download page just before the category listings - Mike

Hi Keith. I take it you have just purchased the Nav72 - I'm trying to find out what exactly Navigon are intending to do with user-input POIs in their new devices.

Can you tell from the product screen which version of MN (Mobile Navigator) you have - is it V7 or V8?

Thanks for any info!

Hi David,
Its V8.1.1 (BUILD 3001)

So far i'm happy with the PND it looks ok, nice wide screen and has the Navigon Flow system as well.
Not had a chance to put it to use as yet, but have updated my maps, lives services and will have to how the pgpsw POI have installed.
The only issue i have is the windscreen mount - a bit fiddly - but i'll work on it.
Does not have bluetooth but i don't want it, as i already have bluetooth in the car.
Other than that i'm just getting to grips with it.

Cheers

Thanks Keith - am very interested in how you get on with the PGPSW pois!

I think the holder is the same as I have on mine. It took me a little while too, but no bother at all now I'm used to it - think it was mainly getting used to dismounting it by the bottom edge, rather than the top, as I had been used to.

Hi David,
i've followed this thread -
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=83487

Which you'd already commented on. As yet i've not had a chance to test mypoi's but hopefully sometime this week i might get the chance for a drive out somewhere
I noticed in the above thread you made reference to POiWarner, so this will mean more to you than me, at present - I have 2 PoiWarner on my system
1. POiWarner
2.POiWarner_Live

Cheers

Hi again Keith.

The POI Warner I was referring to is a 3rd party product from navigating.de - confusingly named the same as what you have on your unit, which are the built-in Navigon products (rumoured to also be sourced by navigating.de).

But I doubt whether it's worth worrying about them anyway for now (or possibly ever!) as they seem to have lost the battle to maintain compatibility with the new Navigon models, and no up-to-date english-language version looks like appearing at all now. I keep checking now and then just in case, but anyway there is certainly no sign of anything to do with the new MN8 software either, which you have.

It rather looks like Navigon or nothing as regards 'MyPOIs', which is why I am so interested in how you get on with them - I have 10,000, including some of PGPSW's, and am very concerned about trying an update Razz !

Cheers,

PS you said in your first post

Before you do too much conversion with the PGPSW POIs, when you click on the POI icon in the panel, do you actually get a menu up (or is the icon greyed-out and inactive)?

Hi David
Quick update for you.
I took my car to the local garage today, some 20mls away so i was able to use my PND for the first time.
First impression are very good, i was impressed how quickly it readjusted when i made a few wrong turns. It also only made me aware of speed cameras that i was driving through, as in, if the Gatso was on the other side of the road then it did not effect me.
The screen is a good decent size, very clear directions - no problems at all.
Now - the not so good....
My POI's never did a thing, even though i'd copied then across as CSV files, and the icons, then created my own sub folder within the Navigon folder.
One other thing was getting the PND onto the window screen mount and off as well - at present i attach the unit to the mount and then onto the window.
Other than that, all is well.

Cheers

Cheers Keith. Glad some of it's good!

What did you call your POI folder? When I did this I had to call it "MyPOIs" (I think) for Navigon to pick it up properly.

I had the same problem with the holder - you need to make sure you have enough clearance to be able to mount the unit easily. Just a matter of getting used to it - try practising a few times in the armchair Rolling Eyes ! Very easy once you've done that, except after the pub of course (only joking folks Twisted Evil )

Not sure Keith.

My best suggestion for the moment is to post a general query on the Navigon Facebook page AND, at the same time, send a more detailed account of what you've done by email to their team. I can't remember their address offhand, but if you look through the other queries on Facebook you will see endless replies from Navigon saying something like 'please send your details to our team at ... and they/we will get back to you'.

That way you may get some help. The traditional support route via the website support page is Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Rolling Eyes - don't even try it![/i]

Good Luck!

You may also find this forum page quite useful from the german site PocketNavigation.

http://tinyurl.com/7w3b7zq

I find something like FoxLingo (I use the Firefox browser) really good for web page translation. as once you the first page is translated, subsequent page linking stays in english. But you will no doubt have your own favourites.

You'll see that there are many posts about the N72 - I haven't looked at any of the stuff in detail, but will when I get around to my new device. You may even find something about your MyPOI question. I found the site invaluable with some quirks and 'dodges' for my 70, as many of the users are very experienced and knowledgeable, and I'm pretty sure a few may even be 'insiders' of a sort!

Hi David,
Just had a quick look at the Germany web site.
Thanks for the link, i'll put it in my Favorites.
Looks to be some good hints & tips, but could not find anything about my POIs but will go back and do some more digging. Also posted on Facebook so will wait for the reply as well

All the best
