Higoramus was saying that former causes latter, so if there's a problem, it'll show up. What does a higoramus know?
Course, I'm with him I think. Except that say a night-time closure of a bit of motorway might not cause a latter if not enough of TT's x.x million users are driving round there. For a closure, the road affected should not even be included in route decisions - in effect, it's the same as a road which doesn't exist, not yet built, not yet opened.
One factor for consideration is that when TT horizon eventually reaches the incident and offers re-routing, the shorter distance to the incident may well have fewer diversionary options, so giving rise to congestion around the diversion route. Earlier information can allow the driver to choose an alternative which may be very little further and considerably quicker? _________________ Dennis

I cannot lie, you are not wrong Higoramus young man, we have been here AT LEAST a dozen times before. Every time it rears its head in yet another thread I tell myself not to be dragged into it, then my bluddy fingers take over and away I go again. I'm not really suited to being a retiring violet. _________________ Dennis
The HD traffic service was superb on the M3 this morning.
It flagged the issue on the M27 and routed round it with no issue. However what was more impressive was the info on the very recently happened crash near Jn 11. It was flagging it before anything on the radio and before any emergency service was there. No need to reroute and it must have happened no more than 5-10 minutes before I got there. Yet it was showing 2 then 4 then 6 minute delay and was incredibly accurate. It meant I could keep calm and know what the issue actually was. Information is king.
