Could somebody please tell me how to back up my maps ? I have six on one card, and looking at SatSYNC it's not clear which are which as they are not named as such as per the card, ie Peak District, New Forest etc.etc. I think that they seem to be each identified by date ? Thanks.

Pop the card into a card reader and use Windows Explorer to copy everything on the card to the PC, should you ever need to use the backup the files on the PC are simply copied back to the original memory card, you can't change the actual card as the maps are locked to the unique ID of the SD card - Mike

Why not just copy them all to a folder on your PC?

If the SD card dies you will have to get Satmap to unlock them for a new SD card in any case. However if you damage/delete one of the map files on the SD card then you can just copy that one back. Even if you don't know which map it is it will be the one that does not match the files you have on your PC.

Does that help or have I missed something?

Thanks...I was looking for a way to do it on SatSync, but Mikes seems to be the way to do it. Copying the whole lot over also means about 100 walks I've done as well...hence why I was beginning to wonder.....

You could try downloading SyncToy 2.1 from the Microsoft website. It is intended to backup memory cards, though I have used it to backup my ipod and kindle.

Be a little of the type of backup you select, as it will sync both ways. I suggest that "Echo" is the most appropriate for backing up map cards. I you choose "synchronise" and then accidentally lose a file from the backup, it will delete the file from the card next time you sync.

Apart from that I have found it a brilliant product.
