it keeps a watch on new maps being availble for which you hold a lifetime subscription and then alerts you and or does an automatic download to your machine.

I've tried the map updater. It sort of works OK but I still prefer the old way.

Issues:
It kept disappearing off the screen. Restart the app and it re-appeared.
When I tried it on my second PC (download to PC only), it hung on "verifying download" (I used the old way to download it after rebooting my PC and it did recognise that the map had been downloaded - so that was good)
On my first PC, it downloaded the whole map, then, when I said I only wanted Western Europe, it downloaded it again.
