hi
have checked out the FAQ section but i cant seem to find the exact answer i'm after.
i have a ONE IQ europe and am getting a ONE XL LIVE europe. i have about 20 favorites on my old tomtom that i would like to transfer to the new one. in my old map folder i have a mapsettings.cfg file (that has a microsoft outlook icon next to it). is this the file that i need to copy to the map folder of new device and if so do i need to rename it?
also i have a large poi category of my customer base called customers.bmp and customers.ov2, do i simply copy these 2 files over to the new map folder on the tomtom live?
sorry to ask a question that you are probably sick of answering but i didn't want to make a mistake.
one last query, should i delete the tomtom camera database before or after i install the pgpsw one.
TIA
tony.

Yes, just copy the mapsettings.cfg file from the old map to the new map
Yes, copy the .ov2 and associated .bmp file(s) to the specific new map folder.
I've seen some here suggest for a bit to run both sets of cameras in parallel, just to reinforce how crappy TomToms really are! _________________ David

Fly in the ointment time.....
Copying the MapSettings.cfg into a new map's folder on the SAME device usually works, but sometimes doesn't.
Copying it from one machine to a completely different model MAY work, but may well not.
Try it and see, but be prepared for the new machine to go into a perpetual re-booting loop until you take the file back off again.
A better way to keep your favourites is to move them into a user-POI category that you create.
If you haven't got to many, you can do it manually on the TomTom one by one. (Browse map - Find Favourite - Save as POI)
If you want to do it all at once, download a copy of POIEDit and open the MapSettings.cfg file in that. It will show you all the places stored in the file - your Favourites, your Home location and all your recent destinations (the Police love that file!).
You can then delete the ones you don't want and save the rest as a new POI file to go back on the TomTom.
One fial tip... if you call the new POI category "_MyFavs" (or whatever) with an underscore at the front, it will appear at the top of the alphabetical list on screen, and be easy to find.
If you need any clarification or help with any of the above, just ask - Andy _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-)
