On several recent trips to France I discovered that the European voice warnings stopped working. They were reactivated by going through the sound selection process .This was done by the passenger while on the Autoroute but, as you are aware there are lots that need to be set up again. Interestingly, the UK one's didn't have any problems.

The only changes I'd made were either TT map updates or the PGPSW camera updates. I believe one of these must have had an effect.
Is there anything I need to do to ensure these are not lost or can quickly be re-instated?
Is there any way to test that the European warning\voices are active before actually being on the European roads.

A map update will be the cause. It creates a new mapsettings.cfg file when the map is updated and it is this file that stores the warning configuration.

Presumably this didn't stop mid journey though? The advice, (as provided in our FAQ) is to backup the mapsettings.cfg file and restore it if an issue occurs.

Use "Prepare route" to plan a short route that passes a known camera site, then "Show route demo" with the speed set below 400%. If the camera warning is active you will see/hear it.

Plan Route is the menu option you need, choose a start and end and after calculation you can run a route demo.

I had done the copy the mapsettings.cfg file thingy... as shown by the uk cameras warning working.
When we got to France we realised it was the european warnings that stopped working. could there be anything else?

Darren and Anita, thank you for the demo use reminder, i'd totally forgot about that option. Embarassed

But were the Euro warnings set up in the mapsettings.cfg file that you had previously backed up?

The warnings were working on the previous trip, 2 months earlier. I know that because we had to re-apply the warnings on that trip as well. Saved, copied the cfg file before the update and pasted it back afterwards. I didn't run the demo to test it though.
Is there any way of checking the file to see what is in there?

Just run the demo now on a stretch of the French auto route and the voice warning sounded. So the latest map update hasn't affected these.
