changing pounds to local

Had a Nuvi 1490 for a month now, all going good and quite happy with it. One niggle is that I cannot get rid of the pound sign, so all costing is reported in pounds, also inputting data into eco route is always pounds for cost, a niggle.

Am I stuck with this, the unit is from the UK bought new at Amazon, but my locality is Poland. Changing keyboards, language setting has no effect. Seems strange it does not follow local settings or just not have a pound, euro, złoty symbol. Any pointers?

I have a 1490t,which came from Garmin in Southampton and on mine it is dollar signs ,which as far as I can see cannot be changed.
