I'm on this road and in this area regularly.

The markings and signs in this area are poor and in need of upgrading.

Here is the only markings changing the status of the road, with occasional faded 'arrows'.

While I'm not in favour of technology like this as we have too many spy's in our cab, I'm pleased that in this instance the drivers company had it in.

Far too often we truck drivers are perceieved as the villains of the road in cases like this, and had it not have been for the camera, it would have been, "I bet the truck driver was speeding" or "I bet he fell asleep at the wheel" etc etc.

Despite the alleged lack of signage, I bet she gets a minimal sentence for it, whereas the truck driver would have been banned, sent to jail, had to take his HGV test again, fined thousands, and ordered to pay her compensation.

I hope she gets her just desserts over this, and faces something not too dissimilar.

Stupid woman. (That's the polite version. Laughing )

In fairness though, she did swerve round another truck that did stop, I'm sure that his evidence would of implicated the car driver not the HGV driver.

Indeed. People may thing "Wow, it's great that the driver had a video in his cab" but in this case there is an independent witness who would testify that the car came down the slip road the wrong way. An open and shut case even without the video, though it looks good on you-tube.

What concerns me though is that there is an awful lot of lag in the GPS speed reading. It lagged behind reality by a good few seconds and was still registering 30 MPH or so when the truck had obviously stopped. I hope they take this into account in other crashes and don't use it to over estimate the collision speeds.

I am a developer of a dashcam app for Android devices, and also record GPS speed with the video. From my experience (and what users report) the reported GPS speed may have a delay of a few seconds, but this is rather an exception than the rule. Admittedly, the GPS receiver from mobile phones is less accurate than from dedicated units.

For those of you considering to use such a video evidence recorder, I compiled a list of solutions, also including hardware devices like the Roadhawk:
