I've had a few instances recently of CamerAlert warning me of a camera zone when none exists on the road I am travelling on. It seems to occur when there is another road nearby (either roughly alonside or crossing over/under my road) which may have a camera zone on it. It shows me as exceeding the speed limit on this other road (continuous overspeed warning). My TomTom App is showing me on the correct road and indicates the correct speed limit for my road (not the one nearby) and does not give an overspeed warning. Is there a valid reason that this occurs?

it's known as a 'false positive'.

you can adjust the detection angles in the advanced settings so that the range isn't as big. however doing this means you may then inadvertantly miss out on real alerts such as those just around an upcoming corner.

personally i'd rather have an occasional false positive than miss out on real alerts. although, having said that, i have lowered each of those values by 5 (so they are 40, 40, 45 from the default of 45, 45, 50)

Tap "Sound Warnings", then on next screen tap the right arrow alongside "Warning range: x seconds"
