I woke up my kids and wife at 6 am, yelling "Look outside, it is snowing!" _________________ Lutz

One of the best April Fools that I've seen today was an announcement that Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth is to be painted with special fluorescent green paint, so that it will glow in the dark - read here. _________________ Andy

A few years ago and at the time when the No Smoking Ban was being rolled out everywhere, I was Regional Co-ordinator and Forum Admin for my soft top Sports Car Club. I copied some of the legislative documents about the No Smoking Ban that were sent out to all employees of the Company I worked for, changing the wording slightly here and there, basically saying that the National Committee of the Car Owners Club, legally and in fear of being prosecuted for non compliance of the new No Smoking Ban in Public Places, have decided that Members, whilst driving on Club Runs through Towns and Villages with their Car Roofs down, are no longer permitted to smoke within their Cars.
On the 1st April I set the alarm for 6 am and posted this on the Forum, saying I had received this e-mail from the National Committee and had to post it up immediately, usual stuff about only being the messenger etc. Well the angry posts and PM's that followed were unbelievable, several members were not for renewing their membership and wouldn't be going on any more Runs, one guy who happened to be a heavy smoker, woke his wife before going to work telling her all about it and how angry he was etc, poor guy, he was uptight all day and with no internet access didn't realise it was a wind up until he got home from work.
In the end they all seen the joke and admitted how much they had been taken in. |

Went to a lovely country pub where they always have a blackboard over the bar saying something that has happened "this day in history".
On Friday it was "Marco Polo.. on this day in 1310 discovered Mintz"
I finally twigged when I woke up at at about 5am and light dawned..... |

Another good one this time from the 70's. The brewers Guinness took out a half page ad in all the daily papers, telling how much they appreciated everyone's custom over the years and as a way of thanks they wished to reward everyone with a free Pint of Guinness, the instructions were to cut out the black and white dotted section of the ad and place this firmly against the inside of a Pint tumbler, the black and white dots were impregnated with Guinness particles and once mixed with water the glass would transform into the famous Stout. In reality and many were foolish enough to try, what they did get were the words 'April Fool' up to now hidden in the paper but reacting to the water and clearly seen from the outside of the glass |

I thought you had to be in it to win it, and I can't see a contribution to this thread from Dennis before this enquiry. _________________ Anita

Hah! That's cruel, coming from the person who won the only working TomTom GO720 in the world. I thought that maybe just being me would qualify for being in it to win it _________________ Dennis

As it's you, and the prize is a one-year subscription, maybe they'll award you a consolation prize of a half-year-subscription if you ask nicely. _________________ Anita
