I need some advice on which Tomtom to get as I'm not familiar with the current offerings.

I need something with a remote, and it need only have UK maps (although I realise a model with a remote will probably have more maps). It also needs to be one of the widescreen models.

It's my plan to fix it to the dash with a Brodit clip.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

I think the only recent models that could use a remote control are:

Go x20 series
Go x30 series
Go x40 series
Go x50 series

The new Go models (1000/2000 series) cannot use one and I don't believe the Vias can either.

Only the Go x50 models are still on sale, but you may manage to find a refurbished x40 in the TT "outlet shop".

If you only want UK maps the Go 540 or 550 would fit the bill, the 740 or 750 are the same but with Europe-wide mapping.

on the 910 the remote was using a proprietary radio. Newer remotes are using Bluetooth. We actually reviewed the remote a while back...

The Go-500, Go-700 and the x10 models all worked with the radio wave remote, great fun for messing around with another persons sat nav while sat in stationary traffic on the motorway Twisted Evil It had enough range to get to at least the car to the side or in front!

The x20, x30, x40 and x50 units employed Bluetooth technology, I am sure the design was sponsored by the manufacturers of AA size disposable batteries as it went through them at an alarming rate Evil or Very Mad - Mike

Thanks for the replies.

I was mainly thinking of new models, or refurbished.

The most recent Bluetooth Remote works with my 550 and TomTom are selling that device refurbished in their Outlet Store. You'll have to buy the remote control in addition - TT sell it for £34.95, Ouch! I'm assuming you want the remote control because you won't be able to use the touch screen (which is much faster and some functions are not available with the remote).
