|
|
Got a 1490tv and did the software update (not lost sound) but when I plug it into the car I cannot see the traffic icon. The aerial that picks up the signal has an extra aerial that fits in it and it's all on the dash but I still can't see the traffic icon. Now does it only show when you are on a programmed route or does it show all the time?
I cannot find traffic in the settings menu either! |

The Traffic icon does not always come up straight away,I do not use the additional plug in ariel, Once the icon is there and shows green you can then click on the icon and see any hold ups,if you have a route it will change colour accordingly to what hold ups there are on route.Traffic does not show in settings untill you get connected. _________________ Square2024

Cheers, I have been looking around on the net trying to find out when it appears. I've been driving with the power lead connected along with additional serial connected and it has never shown yet. Will it show the icon even if there is no route programmed in? |

Car windscreen can effect the signal. It did with mine ,It had been on and then switched power off got back in the car and no green icon. Got home opened the door and picked it up once again .Not sure how to improve the signal yet but i have undone all the power lead annd raised the AM reciever bit to the dash clamp I will see if that works My 1490 has been in 3 different cars Has gone off in 2 of them and not the other .Works great in the house ,but that tends to defeat the purpose of sat nav .Other than that I think its the Dog's B*****ks . Iv'e only had it 3 weeks Not sure if the little detachable aerial does anything particually with UV coated glass .Has anyone got any suggestions? |

Thought of the windscreen being a problem, I have a heated windscreen but put the aerial pickup at the side where there is no element. Got the extended aerial up the side. Hhhhmmm suppose it could be where I am in relation to the radio signal strength. But I think I live in an area where the strengh should be strong enough. Will have to have a play around with it, I did read that it took take up to 20 mins to pick up the right stations that deliver the traffic info. |

Now I know that it is the signal pick up and not a fault with the unit I am not bothered that much as I dont live in a city centre. where i presume road works spring up all the time .Do high rise buildings ruin the signal ? |

It might do, as it picks up FM data and the more buildings there are the strength of the signal will fall. Depends on where the signal is transmitted from too I think. If I'm wrong, someone will correct me. |
