Hi. "On start-up, also run the following application" was, I think, a request made by someone so that Navigation (or other application) would be invoked when CamerAlert was started. That was my naive understanding anyhow, and my be wrong??

I can confirm. I was the one making the suggestion about the run application automatically on startup, in another thread Smile
That was just less than five days ago Smile Amazing!!

P.S. It works fine with my third party SatNav App. Thank you.

They don't "hang about" MrFrank... Just hoping that they can get it working (invoking of other app) for use with Google Maps/Navigation.

have you exited (fully quit) the app and restarted?

I can't try Aura as my device doesn't hae the required 3D graphics acceleration.

Okay. I Exited CamerAlert. Turned the phone off, then back on, now starts the nav program. Can't get any further as the maps have now gone from Sygic Aura. Not sure whats happened.

Will get back to you when I have had a play around.

did you buy aura (and the map licenses)? or did you use the xx-day trial they offer? it might be that you just need to enter a code somewhere to activate the maps.

This is not a bug but a feature. Sort of. We are explicitly excluding Google System Apps. Who knew that someone would actually use Google Navigation?

It's easy enough to correct that if needed.

Lutz/MaFt,

Do you think you will be incorporating Google Maps/Navigation within the "also run on startup", or is that a "no no" due to it being a system app, and may cause problems??

Cheers

Cheers MaFt,

He actually scribed he had "explicity excluded Google System Apps", and "It's easy enough to correct that if needed".

For MY part (and that of others) it would surely be a "one time thing" of switching on or off the associated (navigation) app to run at the same time as CameraAlert, unless of course one DID wish to invoke another app, whilst driving.... 8-/ ), so wouldn't really matter which other apps were shown on a list (as long as, of course, the listing did not use battery (doubtful).

Although Lutz said he COULD do this (enable the selection) quite easily, the decision to allow this is in the hands of the "powers that be" (Darren and Co).

(At least I know I'm not the ONLY one who uses Google Maps for Nav ;-) )

Cheers

(so.....?)

I purchased it. Now I cannot get it to see any maps. I have removed from phone, then reinstalled but no joy (3 times now). Will have to contact Sygic to see what they say.

I am not a happy bunny. Was fine until I used that b***** setting.

I must admit that I thought the Beta testers would have been granted the 'active' version without charge, but hey, its only 59p so I'm not complaining.

Google offer no way to 'gift' an app to someone. The only way we could have done that would be to offer a direct download which would require manual installation and we would then have had to maintain an update repository and manage all that moving forwards.

If we were able to gift the app to the beta team we would happily have done so.

Darren - It was my misinterpretation during the beta testing and a misconception that as the app. was installed and had linked to my account, then any further upgrades would follow.

Sadly Beta's never function like that, either on Android or iOS. Beta's are a wholly manual effort, totally separate from the retail path.

That's a shame about Google not offering a way to gift an app to someone. However you could always send a 59p sum via PayPal, however you could always do a refund via Google Checkout. Wink

If we were to refund via Google then you would lose access to the app for future updates or if you needed to re-install.

But as this appears to be an issue, If anyone who participated in the Beta and has spent 59p to get the full version wishes a refund then I will be happy to issue one.

It will be in pennies via RoyalMail and I may forget the stamp. Wink

Wonder if it has been decided to have the ability to invoke Google Maps upon launch of CamerAlert yet? (or are we still quite surprised that anyone uses Google Maps/Navigation? Embarassed Embarassed

Indeedy it is, Darren. Cool

Was just wondering, only this morning I saw a "CamerAlert and speed cams have been updated" announcement. Thought it may have been the app (353), went to the Market (which commonly doesn't show version number), downloaded, and found it was the same one. Then I start to wonder "should I remove 352 first?"....

And THAT's when I decided to ask

Confused

Cheers
