Garmin's balls are 17mm: http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=193074#193074

If you read on in the next page you can see that Mr Gonzales even started selling his magical balls - not sure if he's still doing it though... (assuming Arkon uses 17mm too!)

Brodit Part #215256 seems like it would be perfect assuming it was the correct size.

I need a micrometer to measure the diameter accurately.

Ok, I stripped the TomTom adapter I have (that was intended for the TomTom iPhone CarKit) off my GO 1000 mount.

It fits the Arkon but is a tiny bit too small which means it can't be clamped down tight enough to stop movement.

It is about 16mm so that would suggest a 17mm ball might work OK.

For some dimensions of the two balls here is a snippet from another thread when messing around with the TomTom iPhone kit:

With the two parts seperated its time to measure the diameter of the ball which checks in at 15,90MM slightly less than the Garmin standard ball which is 17,12MM (Both are shown in this picture for comparison).

Thanks Mike. All suggests that a Garmin ball mount would be the right size. I can't find the Garmin ball mount on the Brodit site though?

Have a look at item 215116 on the DSL Dev web site, it fits all Garmin units so gets loads of listings against the various models - Mike

Ah yes, I've seen that one, just wasn't the one I was expecting. What was the 2nd one in your pics with the micrometer?

I emailed Arkon and received an impressively prompt and helpful reply. Sadly, UK availability of the accessories mentioned seems poor. I might just be tempted to try and do something about that!

Thank you for the inquiry. The RWIPC has a 17mm Garmin ball pattern built into the back. You can use any of the Garmin solutions found on this page:

http://www.arkon.com/garmin_nuvi_mount.php

As for compatibility with the brodit ball / TomTom mount, I doubt it will work in that exact configuration. Fortunately, Arkon does have a similar combination of adapters that could still utilize the dash bracket portion:

AP032-VSM - Adapter Plate - Converts any 4 Hole AMPS pedestal to Arkon's Dual T-Slot Pattern

AP2T17MM - Adapter Plate - Converts any ARKON DUAL T-Tab Pattern Pedestal to the 17mm

Morpeth Mobiles stock all the Arkon mounts so they should have the accessories also.

Good to have our calculations confirmed.

I see no reason why it wouldn't work fine with the Brodit Garmin Ball. The rest of their reply seems confused as this mount does not have the Arkon T-Tab/T-Slot fixing so cannot use any such adapters.

Morpeth don't list many (any?) of those accessories but may indeed have them or be able to get them.

You would only need an app to see the raw GPS data, not to use the cradle with a nav app?

The manual only mentions the app if you are troubleshooting a fault.

I can't find it either, drop the manufacturer an email and ask:
