Telmap & Data plan

Hello i have a Blackberry Bold 9700 without a data plan using a Pay as you go sim card , i am thinking of downloading the Telmap app to my phone will it work on my set up it does have GPS ?

We have a version that uses a WAP connection to the internet, but it's not available on our usual download site.
