I have finally upgaded my I3 to a 1490T. I do hope this serves me as well as the i3 did, but I am having problems with freezes during use. It seems to happen when at a "Speed Alert Ahead" banner. This is not the PGPSW type alert with the reference but a Grey or Red Banner " 60mph Speed Alert Ahead". The route is lost and needs setting again. Is this a left over from the free starter Garmin database, or is there a limit on POI's as per the i3?

1490T
Software 4.60
Map: NT2011.20
GPS: 4.30
Text: 3.00 (British English)
Audio: 1.90
Bluetooth: 1.73
PGPSW database 8.103.20
Camera Manager v3.0 - (c) Ash10, 2010

Anybody else had this or got a clue?
Thanks

It's leftover from the 'free samples' Cyclops data from Garmin. I was getting very similar freezes when the 'mobile speed camera zone' banner was showing, but deleting the Cyclops files from the unit solved the problem.

jdgwinnell. Thanks for your reply.
It also seems that if I remove the PGPSW speed camera items from the POI file and install the trial Garmin Speed camera database it works correctly. I know the Garmin database is not as good, but it is not that bad so far either. If removing the Cyclops files fixes, then I maybe able to return to PGPSW.

jdgwinnell, can you recall where these cyclops files are? I have a quick look round but not found them. In the POI folder of the unit is my POI file (without camera DB) and the 3 files for the trial Garmin camera. Is the folder hidden/protected is some way?

I have also noticed that the POI icons now appear when I drive slowly or expand the view. A bit like TomTom. Wink

Looks like I am going to be locked into Garmin Camera database at this rate.

When you do load the PGPSW Database it goes in the POI.GPI file with the rest of your POIs.

Are the 3 Garmin trial files not the Cyclops database? If you have paid for the Cyclops Database then the files for that will be in the same place. If in doubt copy the files to your PC first before deleting.

Sorry, yes, Cyclops = Garmin cameras. Back up those files somewhere, remove them from the unit and run POI Loader with the 'remove all current POI' option. Sorry I can't be more specific but I'm away from home at the moment and don't have any nuvis with me.

Thanks. I am sure the only file in there was the POI.GPI when this was happening. But I will try again when I get home next week.
