Thanks dhn for your response - I have an Explorer backup but reading the Sticky on backup I am not sure what files to install. Do I just try and overwrite the existing files or do I do a format first and then copy all files over from the backup?
TT have sent me an email which advises 1) Formatting the Hard Disk; 2) Deleting the Downloads Folder; 3) Installing the App; 4) Installing the Map.
I have never carried out a reinstall before so I am a bit worried about formatting the 750 as it does seem pretty drastic.
Can anyone advise the best way forward?

When you format the drive, ALL folders and their files will be gone. It will be empty.
So, you copy back your Explorer backup which presumably had the proper folder structure when you initially backed it up. _________________ David |

Help!
I am now in trouble with the 750. I have tried 4 times to format the device and the progress bar gets about a twentieth along and then makes no further progress. What on earth do I do now?

you could try and find a program to help format and see if that helps , sometimes they do a better job than Microsoft _________________ TomTom 5001 |

I'm one of the unlucky few who fell foul of 9.054 when it was first offered to me via HOME. I had to delete everything and reinstall an earlier BackUp and all works OK, now.
However, I still get offered 9.054 and maybe I should try again
I also have another a query. I have the TT GO950LIVE and cannot work out why I have TWO Navcore applications on it - v9.026 @ 38.1 MB and a v9.053 @ 40.1MB. Now I'm sure I do not need both - both are installed on the device hard drive.
The Application that is displayed in Settings is the 9.053
On the SD card I have the two maps N. America v840.2562 and Europe 2Gb v850.2802
Question is, how can I uninstall the app v 9.026 from the device and further, is this desirable
Maybe if I could do that, then I could upgrade the App. to 9.054..... _________________ Gee-Pee

I'm just doing a back up of my TTG750 Live via Windows Explorer, I might even do a second via Home, just to be on the safe side.
Also just installed a 4Gb memory card into it as well so I may copy a backup on to it for added insurance, if it doesn't like it then I'll just delete it. |

Answered/solved my own question. Deleted the older application from the device and saved it to computer via Home.
Next moved the two maps from the SD card to the hard drive - just fitted - then formatted it and got rid of everything else on that drive.
Moved the two maps ONLY to the SD card.
Re-booted and everything worked fine. No sign of the double applications.
Updated it from Home and did a Backup of each drive.
Just have to reinstall the latest PGPSW Safety cam POIs.
Job done.
Don't know why I questioned myself.... _________________ Gee-Pee

Help please! My 750 has now been useless for about a week.
I finally managed to format the internal J: drive and downloaded app v9.054 – well TTHOME says it has but it shows as 38.3MB instead of the 50.2MB it said that it should be before I started. I also changed the Maps to v850.2802 on my 4GB SD card (K drive). The unit just kept resetting itself. I then emptied the J: drive and copied over my backup using Explorer – thus reverting to app v9.026 – no joy. Then I used TTHOME to upgrade the app to v9.054 (38.3MB) and the unit appears to work but when I try to plan a route it will go as far as the last address number or postcode and then it resets itself back to the Tom Tom screen. It looks like the LIVE function isn’t working either.
It looks like I shall have to start all over again. Is anyone able to offer guidance as to what I should do next?

What does your Status screen say you have installed?
Application number/version and Map version?

Have you tried a re-boot?

What is the network status (From the 'Status screen)? And, can you get a GPS connection?

Finally, do you have a BackUp done with Explorer (not Home) ?

Hi Graham,
To answer your queries:
1) App v9.054 (1.024 26/5/2020); Map v850.2802; GPS v1.20 Boot 5.5259;
2) Yes, rebooted lots of times;
3) Network - Not connected. In the house I cannot get a connection but I have driven around and it does get a GPS connection.
4) Yes I have backups of the 2GB internal and the 4GB card (J & K drives)

Virtually the same as my settings. I have a slightly different application as I had trouble with the v9.054, although it has not affected many users with the 950. You will see what I did from the post immediately above yours, and everything is working fine now. I have two maps - Europe and North America on mine and I have those on the SD card alone. The application is on the device hard drive.
If you open My Services from the Live Services screen, does it give an error code or other information? Such as 'Expired' ?
If you can solve the problem with the basic application, then they should return, we hope.
I could suggest you Back Up both drives, then format the card (FAT) and then restore the hard drive from your most recent working backup of the internal drive and then put the map onto the card. Check that is working then update the software on the internal drive from the latest available to you - but not the v9.054. Only when all is working OK, should you then consider updating to the v9.054. You could wait to see if a new application is published by TT. With the problems posted here in this forum, with this one, it should not be long. _________________ Gee-Pee

Many thanks for your response Graham.
Unfortunatly I have to go out now so I will follow your suggestions hopefully tomorrow. I think the last working backup app was 9.026. Fingers crossed that I can get it going again.
Cheers, jack. |

Two very different things there....
The GPS connection is the link to the navigation satellites.
You can see that working on the signal strength meter in "Status and information/GPS status".
The "Network" page under the "Status and information/Version info" menu tells you about the GPRS (i.e. like mobile phones) signal that the internal SIM card uses to send you the LIVE services. |

Thanks Andy_P,
Over the weekend I managed to successfully format both the internal 2GB drive and 4GB card. I finally realised that it was my USB hub that was slowing down the formatting process and I didn't need to use it on my new PC. It is fine for downloading the PGSPB updates but not much else - I now use one of the USBs on the front of the PC.
Having been unable to download App v9.054 and Map v850.2802 and get them to work I decided to copy over backups I had previously made. Thus I now have App v9.026 and Map v845.2702 on the 750 and after having to make adjustments including the wrong map colours appearing the satnav seems to be working correctly EXCEPT that the LIVE TRAFFIC does NOT now work.
I am now in the invidious position of having a satnav that is in a WORSE state than before I tried to update it with the v9.054 App. I see that there is another thread here about the incompatibility between v9.054 and Live Traffic - I will go there and have a read in the hope that someone will come up with a fix fo this fiasco.

The only fix you can carry out is to revert back to the old NavCore. Only TomTom can sort this out with a new NavCore and we're still waiting... |
