The big news for me with v2.7.5.2014 is that POI sharing is back!

You have to go to Tools / Mapshare/ Mapshare preferences and tick all the boxes in the "Select POI Categories" tab (remember that page?) and check the countries you want in the "Select Countries" tab

For me there were only two files downloaded:

DeletedPoi.dat 1kB and
CA9913.ov2 1kB which is a POI update! Jumping With Joy

I had to go back to my very old list to find 9913 means it is an update for LIBRARIES

No way to tell how many new ones we've got across Europe as the file is encrypted, but it was easy to see we still only have THREE libraries in the UK according to TomTom's POIs (well four if you count the British Library twice!).

So there's a lot of scope for improvement now the POI sharing seems to be working again!

Bad news, on my PC there's a massive CPU load at times - TomTomHomeRuntime.exe is sitting at 38% when idle and rising to 98% when updating the Go or selecting POI categories or country list in the preferences.

That has caused Home to crash my PC completely twice this evening.

I opened HOME last night and it showed the normal QuickGPS & MapShare updates as available, but was also downlaoding the HOME update files at the same time.

It then asked if I wanted to install the HOME Update, which I did. HOME was closed and the update appeared to install, however, on restrting HOME, it firstly said that there was no device attached - it was, and then said that homerunner.exe or whatever was corrupt an I should download a new version and then showed a link, which disappeared before I could click on it or write it down.

A reboot on my pc did the job and after power-cycling my 520, all appears to be OK.

I've not looked fully at the functionallity of HOME as yet, but Operate My Go still works, as do the normal updates.

These POI correction OV2s aren't encryted, and open OK with a POI editor like TYRE. I use a customised poi.dat file with just the winery catergory to mark locations for me to update later.
It would be nice if the mapshare preferences could be set to default what corrections you wantr to share. e.g I usually share permanent road corrections, but not temporary road closures for roadworks.
As my POIs are for my own use never share them, but have to tell TT each time that I don't to share them.

Are you sure?

My new CA9913.ov2 file won't open in either POIEdit or the latest version of Tyre (downloaded today).

perhaps it's only corrections I've made, which start PA. I've tried re-enabling my poi.dat and selecting all the categories, but it's not downloaded anything, just uploaded one correction I made Confused
Maybe next time I updates it will do something?

Yes, PAxxxx files are unencrypted.

Ar you sure you've got Libraries ticked in the Home preferences?

But it's more likely to do with you having a UK map. As I said there are still only 3 libraries listed for the whole of the UK (plus the British Library twice) and I recognise all of those, so I suspect the new one (or more) is somewhere in Europe.

I still can't think of a way to tell how many changes or where they are.

odd, after my latest device update I now have a PA9913 which I made myself and can open and a PA7311 which is encryted.

My library catergory has 15 listed. Only 1 copy of the british library, 2 in guernsey, 2 manchester, 7 Isle of Man, 1 Edinburgh, 1 Slough & 1 Benfleet. Plus the one I added myself.

Also playing around with my poi.dat has screwed up all my POI alerts and which are shown, again Evil or Very Mad

Can you edit the TomTom POIs on your computer using the GPS coordinates?

If you are referring to TT own poi's then no. They are encrypted and part of the map structure.

But the TomTom built-in POIs can still be edited on the TomTom itself.

TomTom have made things complicated by referring to their own built-in POIs and any third-party POIs you've added by the same terms.

That means there are two entirely different "Edit POI" methods

Pre Go1000 models:
Built-in POIs:
Main menu / Map Corrections / Correct a map error / Edit POI / Choose it / Move POI on map

Third-party POIs:
Main menu / Change Preferences (or "Settings" on new models) / Manage POIs / Choose it / - then instead of 'Edit POI' where you can only change the name or phone number, you have to use 'Add' to enter the the new position and 'Delete' to remove the old one

Go1000/1005 and Via:
Built-in POIs:
Main menu / Live Services / Map Corrections / Correct a map error / Edit POI/ / Choose it / Move POI on map

Third-party POIs:
Main menu / Settings / Manage POIs - then use 'Add' to enter the the new position and 'Delete' to remove the old one as above.
