SD card upgrade - Starting from scratch (Carminat TomTom)

I hold my hands up here. I was mucking around with the files to try to improve the text to speech quality, and I think I've dropped a clanger. The computer voice still operates in other respects, but somewhere along the line it has lost the ability to say road numbers and street names. When I look at the settings, all of the functions relating to speaking street names are greyed out. I wasn't so stupid that I didn't take a backup of the files before changing them, but even after restoring the backups, it still doesn't want to work.

Trouble is that they simply don't work. I format the card, put it in the in-car TomTom. The screen tells me that the card is now ready to use with TomTom Home, but when I try to update it, no updates are available.

At present, the card has only three files on it:
\loopdir\loopback.ex3
\statdata\allowtrip.dat
\tthome.bif

Does anyone have any ideas how I can get the application to re-download as the aforementioned page on TomTom's site says it should?
