Just interested in whether many people do this? I know one person that does, however i don't. Its still leaving £100 worth of kit in full view after all isn't it?

Opinions please Smile

It's always a risk leaving anything in a car, because of the average IQ of your average thief.

If you want to take the risk it's something you have to decide.

Depends on where I'm leaving the car. I do on some occasions partly out of laziness etc but if I were to leave it somewhere I perceived to be risky then I'll whip it out.

Are the small car safes that lock to a solid fixing (seat mount) with a wire any good ?

I soon will be blessed with a car with no glove box at all, At least the old plastic sort with a lock had the insurance mans approval, even if they could be openned with a blunt spoon.

Anything that hampers the opportunist thief is good. If they can't smash'n'grab they'll go elsewhere.

I have a selection of these.

They are issued at work for our laptops. I have borrowed the laptop bag for holidays with my own laptop and I also have the smaller bags for TomTom, cameras etc. in car and in hotels.

Yes, I have one of these in the boot of the car with the wire locked around a handy steel ring which was welded to the floor of the boot when the car was manufactured.

When the side window of the car was broken and the rear seat pulled forward by a local scumbag my wifes handbag was stolen from the boot but the satnav in the metal box was left behind.

I have done in the past. I sort of relied on the fact that it looks like it might be worth £16!

I now use a Navmat which I bought for my TomTom 520, but it didn't fit because I didn't buy the extended window mount.

It works well with the TomTom mount in horizontal mode.
