My local area (Blackpool) looks to have been mapped in the last two weeks of April 2009 - Easy to date as I only had the V70 with standard headlights for two weeks and guess whats on the picture!

One continuity error is the main entrance to BAE Systems Warton, click along Highgate Lane and the pictures show a nice sunny day, but at least one or two pictures have the Christmas tree complete with lights on it! - Mike

My old workplace was like that.
As you 'drove' past the front door it all looked open with my car in the carpark.
but when you went round the corner and looked through the railings, it was all derelict and deserted. Crying or Very sad

It appears they came through the staff entrance at work, went up the road a bit then noticed that there's barriers stopping you going anywhere without a pass. They didn't touch the visitor entrance at all though - may have been useful seeing how to get to A&E or the visitor car park at a hospital.

Amazingly, to me at any rate, the coverage is not simply major streets. I can walk up the hill from Asterton village to the top of the Long Mynd and also along a lane which ends at a crash gate to RAF Cosford airfield.

The work involved in obtaining all of this photographic data must have been immense. Interestingly you can zoom in and e mail the resultant photo and that photo is geocoded so it can, presumably, be used directly for navigation on those devices which support it. (My Nuvi 205 for example).

This development is for me the dog's whatsernames. Brilliant. In my business, getting the right address/building for deliveries is often a bit of a nightmare. I have been using street view for quite some time now before I set off, to get down on the street and find the door to my delivery destination, but it has never previously been very wide coverage. This is terrific - it has my van and the sunflowers just beginning to grow (and the hedge not cut Embarassed ) early last summer. The house numbers are a bit out, but who cares. All I need now is to be able to run it on my nice new iPhone and I'll be happy as a pig in doo doo.

Edit to add No sooner said than done (ain't this apps business a doddle?). Sadly, no street view on the iPhone app though. Try the HTC Advantage?

Edited again to add I discovered that I'm talking about me using Google Earth which I find is easier to use for the street view as it gives camera icons you can click on rather than drag the little man across.

I'd already been using it to send TomTom pictures of their amazing invisible sub-£1/litre petrol stations. Smile

Ah, yes. You've reminded me that I used Streetview pictures to get off my parking fine - appealed to the Parking And Traffic Appeals Service (PATAS) and won. My case was due to come before them next Monday, but my submitted evidence was enough to have Westminster Council not proceed. Result!!

Question Are you asking or telling? I've downloaded the Google Earth app, but sadly it does NOT include streetview (which IS included on the PC version and works for me better than the Google Maps version). There doesn't appear to be a Google Maps app, only Earth which is my preference anyway.
