I recently got Co Pilot on my iPhone 3GS. A few weeks ago I got it to take me to visit someone who lives in a town which is several junction junctions up the motorway from me. It correctly took me onto the motorway and told me to get off at the correct junction, and got me to my destination. Great!

This week I did exactly the same journey. But this time, Co Pilot tried to avoid the motorway. When I ignored the directions and got onto the motorway anyway, it told me to get off the motorway at every junction.

I'm not aware of changing any settings, but also i've not been able to find anywhere where I can specify a preference for the type of road.

Can someone help me please?

Ian

Other people have complained about Copilot's choice of route in the past. It seems a bit hit and miss.

But have I missed something? Is there somewhere I can specify whether I want to avoid motorways? I'm thinking that I changed something without realising.

I don't have the iPhone version, but on Android you can change the way routes are planned by selecting "Settings" -- "Routing Profiles" (you may have to select "Show More Settings" first).

You can specify the typical speed of each type of road and also favour certain types.

Thanks for that. I had seen Routing profiles, but what I didn't realise is that I have to go in an create a new one before I am allowed to specify any preferences.

Hi Ian, I don't have the iPhone version, mine is CoPilot 8 for Pocket PC.

I'm not sure about Routing profiles but if you select Settings/Routing/Tolls you will have 3 choices, Toll Roads, Always Avoid, Avoid if Possible or Use.
