Cant download maps - Garmin Streetpilot

I have just payed £60 to Garmin for a downloaded map update for my Streetpilot 2720 . When i start to download them and connect my 2720 it tells me the unit is registered to someone else and won,t let me download the maps it dose not tell me how to over come this problem. This 2720 was bought new by me in the uk in 2006 and as i only use it when i am in the U K the maps are well out of date. So could someone please tell me how to overcome this problem please

Phone Garmin support and explain. They will hopefully ask you to fax/email through your proof of purchase and then re-register the unit properly.

Offhand, I'd suspect that what you bought as a new unit was either a refurbished or returned unit, and so had been previously registered.
