dennis, at present websites / satnav companies wanting to use 7digit postcode data have to pay massive fees (i.e. to get the 7digit postcode on the navigon iphone app it was an extra £1.19 purchase) - this news basically means that more companies will be able to offer 7 digit uk postcode - to - location data.

My reading of the article is that the Postcode geographic locations file will be freely available, but not the PAF.
The locations file is the one that is of interest to SatNav users. Hopefully we will then have the latest version with each new Map Upgrade _________________ Richard

£200 pounds a year to add it to our point of sale business system. Most of that is to RM and a small bit is admin. _________________ Dom

So all these shops who ask for your postcode and put it into their machines are paying a small fortune to Royal Mail. Nice little earner. Second thoughts, will it be the final nail in RM's financial coffin? _________________ Dennis
