It was my own stupid fault. The new map didn't have a Mapsettings.cfg, so I copied my backup whilst it was still connected. Mistake. I've taken it off and lost all the settings, but at least the device works again!
Operate my XL still works in Home. _________________ Dennis

DennisN...It will be interesting to see if HRH Prince Charles' Poundbury Estste in Dorchester is on it yet. The only system that does have it is Garmin on my Netbook.
Watching this report with interest !!
I have my Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB update now. On first glance they do appear to have included a few of the changes I made through map share this time - almost all of the turn restrictions I submitted are included now as well as a few new roundabouts. Still some problems with roads that don't exist and all the house numbers on my street missing, but at least there's something.
Just used my LMG to download the new UK&ROI map it was cutting things a bit fine as the 30 days is up tomorrow. Following on from Dennis I kept an eye out for the mapsettings.cfg file and realised it is not downloaded with the update but created when the device is first booted, so I copied my saved one back lets hope it works with this version.
I will also install the latest ZIP file then its time to do yet another explorer backup.
I am seriously not impressed. AFter reporting twice that 2 roundabouts have been replaced by traffic lights over 18 months ago, the new maps still show the old roundabouts. Garrmin has had it correct for over 12 months.

A user on Your TomTom reports these two also:
Europa v840.2566
North_America_2GB v840.2562
(Not sure if "Europa" is a typo, but he used it twice. Could possibly be "Europa", or "Western Europe", "Western and Central Europe", or simply "Europe"?)
countries fully covered (99.9%): Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, Monaco, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the Republic of Ireland, the Netherlands, the Canary Islands and the Vatican City.
countries partially covered: Greece (84%), Turkey (63%), Russia (33%), Bulgaria (54%), Latvia (63%) and Croatia (42%, including major cities and coastal areas) _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

A new one way system in Swansea has not been shown since it was introduced over 3 years ago (not on Google maps either, though the open source maps have shown it for ages). Can anyone with the new maps please let me know if The Kingsway, Swansea is still shown as 2-way with a roundabout at each end. If so, I won't update my maps!

I really don't feel comfortable about paying for something I don't know what's been included or corrected? That is why I have now stopped paying for quarterly updates until the whole process has been made transparent.
Isn't it about time we all stopped paying for map updates until we know exactly what is contained in the new releases?
I always find my local routes (especially speed limits along the A127) are always incorrect when a new release comes out.
I am fed up wasting time correcting the wrong speed limits, road names, roundabouts each and every time a new map release comes out!

Just updated my 940, it took nearly 2 hours total, maybe my download speed wasn't that great although that did include doing an explorer backup first.
I now have W&CE 840.2562, NA has remained at 835.2419 as I'm only willing to pay for one update service, although if you buy a unit with two maps on it why doesn't the service cover this? I suppose it would at double the cost!
I had the same trouble as Dennis trying to restore my favourites, constant rebooting, but used the same remedy. _________________ Mike
