Hi JLW,

I've had a Fortuna Clip-On for nearly two months. Apart from the faulty first unit, I've been very happy with it.

I have seen up to 10 satellites whist running TTNav3. It is as good as my wired GPS receiver.

My car doesn’t have a reflective windscreen, but even if your car does, with Bluetooth it’s not a problem as you can move it to another area. Thumbs Up

Regards,

I have a Clip-on, no problem at all. In fact it is great on the dash of my Volvo, 7 sat regularly, and my wife’s Renault scenic with reflecting glass. In the Renault i need to leave it by the passengers window until lock, then it holds 6-7 sats on the dash with ease. Great GPS unit, much better than my previous and faulty Rikaline X7!

Thank you for your reply.

If i dont get fix behind my windshield, is it just to get outside and let the gps reciever get a fix and then place it behind the windshield again?

Hi JLW,

Yes, as it’s Bluetooth, take the GPS receiver out of the car and let it get a satellite fix. Once that’s done you can place it back in the car and start the journey.

Could you update your profile so that we know your country and area? This is because some answers to certain questions may change depending on the country that you’re based in. Thumbs Up

Regards,

In XT I often get 10-11 sats with a fix on 7-9. No heat shielded window though.

I was able to run two systems alongside each other last weekend. Both set-ups were identical except mine had a TomTom bluetooth receiver and my mates used a Fortuna clip on.

The Fortuna was quicker to acquire a fix, always had a lock on one more satellite and was more reliable in reconnecting to the pda when walked out of range and back.

Needless to say, this week I am shopping. Sad
