Nissan Connect - What SATNAV Mapping used?

Asking the question direct on here as very little info available on the web. I want to know so as I can decide how easy it is to add POI's and upgrade as I currently do with TomTom and mapshare etc.

Awaiting delivery of an NTEC Diesel Note (though I believe the Connect units are the same on all models).

Can anyone please advise on the technology so I can decide whether to purchase a standalone device.
