Old Packard Bell GPS 400 unit needs updating.

I use a Packard Bell GPS400 for when I go off familiar roads (trip to Bath last Thursday). The unit is a few years old and is running off a 2005 map, as you can imagine this causes the occasional problem like being directed down a bus lane or through a no entry.
It could really use a newer map but I nothing about finding one or installing it.

Help!!

Also Can OS maps be installed for non road use?

If it comes down to it can anyone recommend a cheep to keep current sat nave that can support user maps.
