|
|
I travel between Stoke On trent and Bristol with my job and I have noticed that there is going to be loads of roadworks and specs cameras on the route, not having much experiance with these cameras , I hope someone can help me.
I know they record your average speed, but I went on some roadworks today which were about 2 miles long , there were 2 sets of specs cameras on my side of the motorway 2 at the start of the roadworks and 2 at the end, will all 4 of these cameras work out your avearge speed, or are they 2 sets that can only work out your speed between the first set and again between the 2points of the second set. |

Forgot my second part
Also I have been on the A50 in notts driving at nightime where they have some of these specs cameras , and you could see the red was lighted up either side of the actually camera in the middle , is this for infared nightime use, if so the cameras on the roadworks on the motorway where I was driving tonight did not have the red showing does this mean that the cameras are not working and are just dummie specs cameras ??? |

Specs cameras can operate in any pairing. There's no way to tell which is paired to which in order to calculate your average speed. The main point for their use is that it makes you travel at/below the limit throughout the zone and not just where the cameras are. If you see drivers dart past you and slam the brakes on for the camera, have a little giggle at their expense as they should be getting a NIP in the post soon.
As infra-red is not visible to the human eye, you are more likely to be seeing reflections off the glass panel than the light itself. It's even possible that during the day the illumination is not required. I would assume all of them are active all the time. _________________ Gerry

First link comes up 404 not found...
Also the second link can be disregarded as it's out of date (nearly 3 years) and no longer relevant. The lane change "tactic" no longer works. |
