|
|
I've just bought Go630 to replace my old ONE. I used Home 2.6 to download updated system (8.351) and LMG to get map W. Europe v830.
It also updated voice Kate.
When I went to see what other voices there were, Home says (in red!) that computer voices are not compatible with my system and greys out the selection of more.
Looking on the device, I am able to select Kate and she speaks the test message OK, so I presume she is compatible!
Does anyone know why this is happening - I know many of you don't like Home and I don't normally use it but I cannot see any other way of getting extra computer voices to try.

My understanding is that the TTS voices are only licensed to use on the device itself and not the PC. For this reason, the voices can't be played via Home.
I would ignore whether something works on Home or not - the only important thing is that it works on the device. _________________ Gerry

Thanks, Gerry. I can understand your point but how can I then download the other English voice (Simon?) when Home won't let me see any? |

I get something very similar....
It seems not to like things I already have on my PC, but offers to download exactly the same version.
I just ignore it!
For example.. the Irish Kathy voice:
(If you can't see the writing in this small version, there's a slightly larger one HERE) |

..and answered!
DHN was suggesting that Home might be corrupting the pathname for the items on your computer as Home is showing them as things like:
C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Username/My%20Documents/TomTom/Home/....
But I think that's OK... the "%20" is just a way to describe a space in URL Encoding.
