TT6 freezing on the "hands" screen on iPaq HX2110

I have been running V6 with Western Europe maps for over 18 months on what is now a rather old but very reliable PDA, with TT Bluetooth GPS.

Last week whilst in the South of France it suddenly stopped working, and the only way I could trick it into working was to start TT and the GPS, take out the SD (1mB) and then put it back in. It would then get past the first screen and show a blank screen with the arrow and then it would find location and work. This is a) not practical and b) very annoying as it would then lose Home location, any favourites and all POI warnings!!!

Has anyone else had a similar problem. HELP PLEASE!!!! Spookily, my next door neighbour in France had exactly the same problem with a One XL the day before and was unable to fix it.
