|
|
Hi, Can anyone tell if it is possible to change the name of a POI without having to delete it and start again. I decided to save all my favorites under one POI heading, but in doing so chose a naff name, now i would like to swap it for one more relivent/easier to find. |

If you created a custom ov2. file then just use Explorer to rename the file. (If you've an associated .bmp file, remember to rename it to precisely what you're renaming the .ov2 file to. _________________ David |

Do you mean a POI category or an individual POI? _________________ TT Go Essential |

If you named your POI category "Favourites", then your TT will have created two files in its map folder - one called Favourites.ov2 which contains the locations of each of your individual POIs, and one called Favourites.bmp which contains the picture displayed on your map at each of the relevant locations.
If you are used to using Windows Explorer, it's easy enough to connect the TT to your computer and rename these files. If you want to call the category, say MyPOIs, you must rename the two files to MyPOIs.ov2 & MyPOIs.bmp. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

Just to clarify daggers' reply, connect your device to your PC, ignore HOME if it starts up, go into "My Computer" and select your device then select your map folder, it will be called "Great Britain" or "Western Europe" or something similar.
Then find the POI category you want to change, and right-click on the .ov2 file and the .bmp file. You can then select "rename" and change them to whatever you like, so long as both names are the same.
Do not change the extension though (.ov2 & .bmp) or they just won't work. _________________ TT Go Essential |

Thanks Calomax sorted, it seemed a lot more compicated than that when dhn posted his reply, also to Daggers very much appreciated. |
